Joe Lake Hike

I'm behind with my blogging. Two weeks ago my brother Guy, our friend Mark and I went on a little hike to Joe Lake - first time for Guy and I. It's one of the local traditions.
Our first glimpse of the alpine after a steady climb up a wooded ridge.

Our destination is behind that hill with the snow patches...
...via this.
There were quite a few little pools of meltwater up on top.
Getting there.
Our goal.
The way back.
We went through some thick, brushy stuff in the creek bottom where we came down. Manmade trails usually show up often in the forest, but in this country they are scarce. The good thing is that log piles aren't so bad when you are descending.

We got back to the vehicle after 13 hours of hiking. Not bad for a day.
