Graystokes Plateau

We went out on another little expedition last weekend. Graystokes Plateau is 15km North of Big White Ski Resort and about 30km East of Kelowna. What does it look like?
Endless chains of mountain meadows set in subalpine forest.

Each meadow with its own individualized creek, too.

For a couple of years Graystokes has been nothing more to me than a blob on a map. You know how blobs on maps can be. Sometimes they disappoint. However, a blob with that many lakes in it should be pretty good, and blobs must be explored.

Graystokes Reservoir

Loch Katrine

Another meadow with it's creek

Who lives in there?

Loch Long

Lemon Lake, for lack of better name. This one gets its own special blog entry later.

Loch Oichie

We admit to being quite pleased with our little map blob. Mom and I were the camera bearers for this trip. We took over 200 photos each in a few hours. I found over fifty photos for my 'best' list in each set - rather unprecedented. I can't post them all, but there will be a few more entries.

Oh... and the road in? Terrible.

Hey, thinking about heading into graystokes and just wondering how you guys got around. I was under the impression that it was a non motorized area but not sure if that's all of the area or just a portion of the park.

cheers.

Sorry about the delay. There is a road that gets up onto the plateau. Some of the lakes are accessible from the road, but we hiked to some of them.
