First Snowstorm of the Season

I guess I should admit...
We were in the alpine up on Crater Mountain.

Wires

Wires show up with noticeable frequency in my albums.
Sometimes, as in this case, they spoil a picture.

Though they can enhance a picture...

Play a major part...

Or even take the leading role.

These two outline the landscape nicely:

After all, they do imitate nature, don't they?

Lemon Lake

There's no name for this lake on any of the maps, but it is at the end of the Lemon Trail.

It's too bad I couldn't photograph the quietness.

Graystokes Plateau

We went out on another little expedition last weekend. Graystokes Plateau is 15km North of Big White Ski Resort and about 30km East of Kelowna. What does it look like?
Endless chains of mountain meadows set in subalpine forest.

Each meadow with its own individualized creek, too.

For a couple of years Graystokes has been nothing more to me than a blob on a map. You know how blobs on maps can be. Sometimes they disappoint. However, a blob with that many lakes in it should be pretty good, and blobs must be explored.

Loch Katrine

Another meadow with it's creek

Who lives in there?

Loch Long

Lemon Lake, for lack of better name. This one gets its own special blog entry later.

Loch Oichie

We admit to being quite pleased with our little map blob. Mom and I were the camera bearers for this trip. We took over 200 photos each in a few hours. I found over fifty photos for my 'best' list in each set - rather unprecedented. I can't post them all, but there will be a few more entries.

Oh... and the road in? Terrible.

Autumn Crop

It may be that some of our hens are a bit mixed up.

Transalta Water Transmission Pipeline

These pictures are from our Alberta days. The pipeline runs between the Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes. It has Transalta signage on it, so it may be connected with power generation.
Eyelevel in this photo is about 6 feet.
