York Waterways

 Decorations on one of the bridges in York. The bridges look quite nice there.

 Though we did find one grungy section.

York Shambles

 A narrow street full of shops whose roofs come close to touching.

 Where the buildings are squashy and saggy.

And there are an unusual number of places selling fudge.

The Walls of York

 The old city centre of York is a walled town. Quite a bit of the wall is still intact, and people are allowed to walk along it.

We got onto the wall at the gateway called Bootham Bar.

York Minster: The View

 A view of the lower catherdral roofs and the town of York from the top of the middle tower.

 Buses pass through gates in the city wall. I'll post some closer pictures of this section as we walked through it earlier in the day.

 It seems that cathedral refurbishment is an ongoing activity.

On the far side of the garden is another stretch of city wall. There is a corner in the wall right behind that copper beech.

 In case you haven't seen enough chimney pots lately.

 A little bit of dead valley never harmed anyone.
