A Walk on the Ridge

A hike that we did on the ridge between Kinder Scout and Hope Cross.

Edale Valley

This is an old Roman road. It has a solid but uneven stone base that was hard to walk on when it went down a hill.

 We found this shed while out hiking.

Corrugated form boards? The wall ripples match the roof ripples. Reuse, I say.

 Looking West

 Mam Tor is an old hillfort. Most of the walls are hard to see, but they were visible here.

We were there on a bank holiday. It was crowded like a beach.

Derwent Valley

 The Derwent Valley in the Peak District is full of little castle towers...

 Strange little castle towers...

 Mounted on dams.

The air force practiced low level precision bombing here during WW2. The airplanes flew between the two towers, in the dark, exactly 30 feet above the water.

 I don't know what is in the pipes. Perhaps pressurized water from a reservoir further up the valley.
