The Derwent Valley in the Peak District is full of little castle towers...
Strange little castle towers...
Mounted on dams.
The air force practiced low level precision bombing here during WW2. The airplanes flew between the two towers, in the dark, exactly 30 feet above the water.
I don't know what is in the pipes. Perhaps pressurized water from a reservoir further up the valley.

Again, really lovely!
Fascinating to hear about the AF precision bombing practice in WW2!
And such cute, odd little castle towers! Seems like stepping back in time.
