High Street

A stone fence sits atop a ridge that leads to High Street.

As I mentioned, the day was hazy as well as cloudy. Some photographs were tortured in the making of this blog post.

The lake in the background is Haweswater.

An anonymous hiker pauses on a peak leading up to High Street.

That tiny pond is higher up on the ridge from the first picture. We didn't hike up that way, but went close to the pond on our way down.

First (clear) view of High Street summit. The map referred to the point of this peak as High Street, but the name may refer to the ridge of which it is a part and the trail that runs along the ridge.

Creeks in the valley below disappear into the haze

Looking back down the High Street trail

The summit itself is not too dramatic

Our path down

These views are glorious. (Especially the last one of the doggie scrambling under the fence, lol.) Seriously, 4th pic from the top gives me the goosebumps: the moodiness and mystery of that shot is something else!
So many great photos here.

It was something of a hefty hike (five hours, I believe), but surprisingly easy, because of the low altitude. Much less puffing and panting. Relatively.

That 4th pic is what we do when the air is too hazy for proper pictures. Make lemonade :-)
It does tend to yield some nice mood.
