Across the Way

Sand flats at a beach in Scotland below the snow covered mountains of the Lake District across the channel.

I don't know the purpose of the wooden platform out there, but it set off the photo nicely.

What a very beautiful photo! Scenes like this fill me with that "sehnsucht' longing that CS Lewis wrote about.

When I was there, I was wondering what it was like back when England and Scotland were fighting: looking at those beautiful mountains and thinking "Those are my enemies!" Nice to have peace.

As you say, those sand flats do have a sort of "eternity" to them. You feel like walking out onto them endlessly. But, alas, we were short of time that day... :-)
