I guess I might admit the need to ask for a few tips...

...on photographing children.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is...

Whether it's a matter of getting the right angle...

Or tracking a changing situation.

I realize that it's helpful to encourage a cooperative attitude from the subject...

But sometimes that's no easier than pulling teeth.

I'm also having trouble with balancing between the risk of action shots...

And the problem of unnatural poses.

I do get some things right with children...

Such as bringing out their affectionate side...

And the occasional bit of spontaneous enthusiasm.

I know that patience...

A certain amount of trial and error...

And careful evaluation of results should get me what I want.

However, I feel I could improve things. Any ideas?

Nip, our canine companion for an XC ski expedition.

I love XC skiing, but I find that it's often not a very photogenic activity. I'll try to scrape a few skiing entries together over the next little while.
