Fruitwood Flooring

Guy and I are installing hardwood at the moment. In a nutshell: allow your arm to be twisted and you will end up with a backache. But we love the wood. It's local cherry from our customer's orchard. Every piece is interesting.

These two shots are from some previously installed and finished flooring in the same house:

In real life it's halfway between the two; warm and golden-pink with the occasional blue streak. Nice stuff.

A certain reader of mine requested that I post pictures of a certain event.

I don't know why.

You see, we were playing around - for the first time at a larger event - with our off-camera flashes. Now we could pursue our vicsubjects into darkened buildings and shoot them in their natural habitat.

We caught many interesting expressions.

One got the sense at times that they were trying to get away from the camera.

We were faced with suspicion and shock...

Resignation...

And even hostility.

The lighting turned out well enough in some of the photos, but there was something wrong with the overall mood of the subjects.

Sort of like... what you might find... I don't know... in a warzone, or something?

Honestly, we didn't have the flashes on full power.

An hour's worth of walking improved it somewhat.

Who would guess that someone would think of us photographers?

PS. To certain fisherman friends of mine: there are reportedly some decent sized fish in there. Now if you were to come and visit us... and, perhaps, volunteer to carry in all the camping gear...

Attic Cleanout

I'm sorry. I'm sure you've seen enough pictures of the flowers on our Joe Lake hike, but they're in the way and I have to get rid of them.

It's blurry and overexposed - I know - but I couldn't leave it out.
