Night Lights
We visited the Scarborough waterfront later one evening.
One restaurant was open. Most of the town was asleep.
A mix of old and new.
The main waterfront street is lined with a series of ice cream stands, fish & chip shops and gaudy entertainment joints.
A staircase leads up into the rest of town.
Some poppies wait in the shadows.
The tide was going out, so we went for a walk on the sands.
South Beach
The other end of the South Beach at Scarborough
At the base of the hill is the old Victorian spa.
A funicular lift for beach access.
Iron railings on apartments that look out over the sea
The old spa buildings are majestic but decrepit
We were told that this hotel used to be the largest in Europe. It has three faucets in every room. One hot water, one cold and one salt water.
