I guess I might admit the need to ask for a few tips...

...on photographing children.
I'm not exactly sure what the problem is...

Whether it's a matter of getting the right angle...

Or tracking a changing situation.

I realize that it's helpful to encourage a cooperative attitude from the subject...

But sometimes that's no easier than pulling teeth.

I'm also having trouble with balancing between the risk of action shots...

And the problem of unnatural poses.

I do get some things right with children...
Such as bringing out their affectionate side...

And the occasional bit of spontaneous enthusiasm.

I know that patience...

A certain amount of trial and error...

And careful evaluation of results should get me what I want.

However, I feel I could improve things. Any ideas?

Well Ben, I guess you need some help with pics of children, but you sure pick some cute ones to practice on ;-)
They sure have grown since those pictures were taken!

Cute, yes. But a better word is photogenic.

Some people always give you the same old nice smile when you point a camera at them. Others... something interesting shows up every time you shoot. :-)

I always loved photographing your family, both immediate and extended. The pictures are always beautiful and lively.
