Bulrushes

Live Shot

We almost never do posed shots - laziness, I suppose. Candid shots are their own challenge, so it was nice to see this come out of the camera.

Today's Photo

Road to Oroville

Scenes along the road between Nighthawk and Oroville, Washington.

The old irrigation canal.

Lots of Balsamroot

Railway tunnel

It's a nice drive. I recommend it if you are ever in the area.

A Busy Weekend...

That led off with a wedding...

Beautiful in its simplicity and depth.

We were glad to be there.

Unfortunately, our lack of skill and lack of good indoor photography equipment left us short of good pictures.

At various places over the weekend, we took some 1400 pictures. Give me a moment or two, and I'll get a few things up for you.

Okay, I did my homework.

They're phragmites, or common reed.

I finally got to them at sunset, hence the further photographs.

They're used for thatching roofs and making paper, among other things.

Unfortunately, they are also an invasive pest, growing rapidly and driving out other species.

They can grow as tall as 19 feet, so our locals are midgets.
