Three Days in Elf Mode

We just made one of these Matthias Wandel designs as a Christmas gift. Better photos later. We were too busy working to pay attention, and some of them blurred.

Materials were mostly cherry, maple and juvenile (undarkened) walnut with a few pieces of black locust, apricot and spalted birch thrown in. The finish is a beeswax and mineral oil mix. Again, I must get some better photos. It looks better live.

Upon delivery.

We used about 9 man days (and a double handful of volunteers) to build it, but we are slow. You could do it faster. It's fun - go ahead, try it!

This looks fantastic!!!
I guess the kids will get 100's of hours fun from it.
My nephew has a somewhat similar plastic toy with suction cups to build against a window, but without a marble pump and 3D freedom, he quickly runs out of ideas.

Suction cups? I haven't seen that one. I've seen a freestanding plastic set. I can't tell you which is more fun to play with, but I do know which set was more fun to make :-)
