My first morning walk in England
A chine is a creek, and by inference, the canyon that it forms. The cliff along the South coast is quite high - up to 200 feet in places. Chines are often your only chance for beach access. Where Whale Chine cuts into the cliff, it is largely soft clay and soil. Whale Chine is steep, rugged and unstable. It has been a little hard on the access staircase, which remains only as fragments.
