Kilpoola Fire

We tried to get into Kilpoola to look at the fire damage. The road was closed, and we only got as far as this pond.

Crater Mountain Fire

The fire on Crater Mountain had been smouldering for a few weeks, not doing much. One evening we looked down the valley and realized that something was taking off.

The fire had reached the bottom of the Ashnola Valley, and was visible from the highway.

While we watched, a massive cloud boiled up from the fire and reached the setting sun.

Stoyoma

Hiking around in the general vicinity of Stoyoma Mountain, West of Merritt BC.

It's smoky out to the West, above the Fraser River. Below, we see that a new fire has started.

Lots of lakes and ponds up here. A cute little green and brown pond that drains into a larger blue lake.

The fire that we saw earlier in the day has flared up. Fortunately our road out doesn't go in that direction.

Fresh Road Lines

The highway between Spences Bridge and Ashcroft. Fresh pavement with newly painted lines. Guess they knew we were coming.
