Camping on Kinbasket

Benjamin and I depart on a camping trip on Kinbasket Lake. It's a hydroelectric reservoir and it is at low water in May when we were there, so you might expect the shore to look ugly. I loved it.

Beautiful high mountains to our South. Highway 1, between Golden and Rogers Pass, is at their base.

Our watercraft patiently wait for us as we stretch our legs.

I cook some salami slices over a mud and stone rocket stove that I threw together. It was one of the most lamentable rocket stoves I have ever attempted - the smoke couldn't figure out which way to go. Salami makes a good camping food, because it will keep for a few days at room temperature.

We camped beside a creek where it flowed into the lake. You can see the creek water swirling as it tries not to merge with the silty spring runoff water of the lake.

Another post about this creek coming later.

Some tracks that we found near our camp site. We heard no howling in the night.

A day trip in the klepper along a side arm of the lake.

Morning light at our camping area

One last shot before we pack up and go home
