We hadn't seen very many sea shells on the beaches that we visited. Then we came to this one spot in Scotland, and they were all there. All of the missing shells from everywhere else.

Honister Pass

 The fascinating, picturesque and barely driveable road to Honister Pass.

Below are some pictures of the slate mine at the top of the pass, for my brother's inspection.

Pictures couldn't do justice to the road down on the other side of the pass, with its 25% grade. Some things have to be felt.

Owning the Road

 On a secondary road in the Lake District.

He moved his sheep a few hundred yards along the road while we followed him in our car. Until he had his sheep across the bridge he stayed in the middle of the road. He did not look back at us, change his pace, or in any way acknowledge our presence until he was done.
