We did a little walk up the trail toward Scafell Pike in the Lake District. The trail starts at Wasdale Head and gives a view of Wast Water and the Ocean.
So, we're out driving in new territory and there is new snow on some of the peaks. I had looked at the map and said "Let's go in there!" As we are driving along I'm wondering if we've chosen the right place. We might miss out on all of that new snow and end up somewhere boring. The picture above was our first look at our destination. Not a great shot, but when I saw that scene, it was "That's where were going? oh yeah!"
We drive up the valley past Wast Water to get to Wasdale Head. That should be Scafell Pike, the tallest peak in the Lake District, in the background.
I liked their door spring
As we walked up the hill four of these roared over head and pulled some tight turns. It is more crowded here, so everything gets shared. Your favorite mountain hosts sheep, lots of hikers, and fighter jets.
A view of Wasdale Head, with some nice stone walls embossing the hillside.
Yes, the road feels that wavy when you drive on it.
Wast Water and the ocean, again.
A stone wall runs up one of the hills
We stopped here, having more road to travel this day. In the background is Scafell Pike, dark and snowy.
The road out. It started to rain when we got back to the parking lot.

I can't get enough of these breath-taking Lake District scenes. And the play of light and shadow on the hills, wow!
