Old Harry Rocks

Outside the mouth of Poole Harbor, there is a point of land blandly named Old Harry Rocks.
No, that's not it. That's just part of it. The Rocks are a chalk cliff that runs out into the sea, facing all of the erosive forces that you would expect. It results in scalloped bays and dramatic points of land.

This path that leads out towards the tip of Old Harry Rocks has a shear drop immediately on either side, and...

...You can't get to the tip anyways!

Looking out to the horizon where an oil drilling platform hovers.

There are lots of nice caves and arches where the ocean is working to turn cliffs into islands.

If you fall into the ocean anywhere on the point, you will have a long swim getting out. There are a few little beaches in some of the bays, but there is no way down to them.

While on the site we encountered a group of photographers shooting the ocean. Real photographers - they had tripods! We were duly intimidated and did not confront them.

It's a nice place, yes. We spotted it before we came over here. We looked forward to going there for weeks.
